my name is joão, i’m a 19-year-old person from brazil that loves and has various interests from video games, music, television, movies, and programming to the weird/unknown stuff that surrounds us.
i’ve been on the internet for the longest time, initially making YouTube videos and moderating a couple of Minecraft servers here and there from the beginning to the mid-2010s.
in 2019, i’ve taken my first position at what eventually became Recodive. after doing many different positions through the years, i’ve mainly become known as the social media manager of PreMiD; expanding from just Twitter to other platforms and helping with the creation and leadership of international accounts (such as Portuguese, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, etc), alongside occasionally helping with technical support and translation/quality assurance. by the time i’ve left at the beginning of 2023, i’ve grown the main account from just 33 followers to 1.5k followers by engaging with its community and essentially being myself!
around the same year, i’ve also started contributing to a video game database named IGDB, which was later acquired by Twitch right around the same time! initially adding/editing games of my interest, eventually expanding to others that i randomly discovered and researched (like Toradora! Portable to Show do Milhão or Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou to Asleep).
in september 2022, i was nominated by its staff to become a Keeper on the site, a voluntary role that gives access to more options to add on submissions, as well as moderation options to review users’ submissions in its queue; since then, i’ve used my skills not only help on the moderation but also to connect with game developers and showcase organizers and help to add their games/events to IGDB, such as SAGE 2023 and 2024 (with the extraordinary help of Nina Rossetti and D), Ghost of the SEA 2024 and the first Brazil Indie Showcase.
my biggest contribution to events was by watching hundreds of hours of E3 press conferences from 2001 to 2019 and adding them, alongside its trailers and information that was missing. as of december 2024, i’m in 6th place on the karma hunters leaderboard.
in between those two, i’ve also contributed to various other projects from time to time, either with translations or code, such as the extensions GoodTwitter2 and Web Scrobbler, the osu!droid project, the Taiga Discord bot and, most recently, the Games Industry Labeller on Bluesky.
